Abstract: A powder dispersion method and apparatus comprising an air eductor and a powder dispensing syringe inserted into a suction connection of the air eductor.
Use: Aerosolize powder dispersion method for an aerosol powder dispersion system e.g. TSI Incorporated's small scale powder disperser, fluidized bed, and dry powder inhaler.
Advantage: The method enables economically providing dispersion rates of 170 mg/minute. The method enables dispersing powdered material with a size range down to about a micron at a rate of approximately 170 mg/minute. The dispersion system is housed in a case with wheels to facilitate portability. The housing maintains contents to be clean in a controlled environment while directing the particulate flow away from ground.
Novelty: The method involves providing an air eductor, and inserting a powder dispensing syringe (23) into a suction connection (16) of the air eductor. Aerosolize powder is supplied to the syringe by using a linear pump e.g. syringe pump, to supply the powder to the syringe. The powder is ejected from the syringe by movement of a piston of the syringe toward a tip of the syringe into the suction connection of the air eductor, where the air eductor is provided with an air eductor holder.
