Spin-stabilized magnetic levitation without vertical axis of rotation

DWPI Title: Method for levitating rotor involves stabilizing rotor with respect to perturbations acting on rotor in direction parallel to rotational axis by utilizing magnetic force and rotation of rotor
Abstract: The symmetry properties of a magnetic levitation arrangement are exploited to produce spin-stabilized magnetic levitation without aligning the rotational axis of the rotor with the direction of the force of gravity. The rotation of the rotor stabilizes perturbations directed parallel to the rotational axis.
Use: Method for levitating rotor.
Advantage: The symmetry properties of a magnetic levitation arrangement are exploited to produce spin-stabilized magnetic levitation without aligning the rotational axis of the rotor with the direction of the force of gravity.
Novelty: The method involves rotating a rotor (12) about the rotational axis. The magnetic force and the rotation of the rotor are utilized to stabilize the rotor with respect to perturbations acting on rotor in a direction parallel to rotational axis, while rotating the rotor. The stabilization of the rotor is dependent on the rotation of the rotor.
