Falling particle receiver systems with mass flow control
DWPI Title: Falling particle solar receiver system, has solar receiver including inlet and outlet, particle flow control devices arranged at inlet of solar receiver to control temperature of set of particles, and hopper connected to control devices
Use: Falling particle solar receiver system.
Advantage: The system controls particle outlet temperature automatically by adjusting a particle mass flow rate through the receiver using a closed-loop control system.
Novelty: The system (100) has a solar receiver (102) including an inlet and an outlet. Multiple particle flow control devices (120) are arranged at the inlet of the solar receiver to control temperature of a set of particles. A hopper is connected to the particle flow control devices. The hopper discharges the set of particles. The particle flow control devices comprise a flow control element. The flow control element comprises a slide gate device. A storage bin (104) is provided with the inlet and the outlet, and connected to the outlet of the solar receiver. A heat exchanger (106) includes an inlet and an outlet, and connected to the storage bin.
