Precision laser aiming system
DWPI Title: Precision laser aiming tool deploying method, involves forming laser fixture setup area in midway between disruptor tool and explosive device target, and directing laser beam of laser fixture to contact desirable location on target
Abstract: A precision laser aiming system comprises a disrupter tool, a reflector, and a laser fixture. The disrupter tool, the reflector and the laser fixture are configurable for iterative alignment and aiming toward an explosive device threat. The invention enables a disrupter to be quickly and accurately set up, aligned, and aimed in order to render safe or to disrupt a target from a standoff position.
Use: Method for deploying a precision laser aiming tool (claimed).
Advantage: The method enables the disrupter tool to be quickly, easily and accurately set up, aligned and aimed so as to ensure safety and to disrupt threats of the explosive device target from standoff position. The method allows the laser fixture to be sufficiently rugged to endure shock and rough handling during setup for targeting scenarios. The method enables the operator to optionally remove the reflector before firing the disrupter tool.
Novelty: The method involves stabilizing a disruptor tool (10) e.g. viper disruptor tool, and attaching a reflector (20) in front of a muzzle opening. Reflective broadside of a reflector is oriented away from the disruptor tool, and a reflective axis of the reflector is aligned to be collinear with muzzle axis. Laser fixture setup area is formed in a midway between the disruptor tool and an explosive device target (110), and a laser fixture (70) is stabilized at the laser fixture setup area. A laser beam (82) of the laser fixture is directed to contact a desirable location on the target.
