Polyoxometalate flow battery
DWPI Title: Flow battery, e.g., polyoxometalate flow battery, has anode portion and cathode portion which include the same polyoxometalate material comprising mixed addenda anion having vanadium and tungsten
Abstract: Flow batteries including an electrolyte of a polyoxometalate material are disclosed herein. In a general embodiment, the flow battery includes an electrochemical cell including an anode portion, a cathode portion and a separator disposed between the anode portion and the cathode portion. Each of the anode portion and the cathode portion comprises a polyoxometalate material. The flow battery further includes an anode electrode disposed in the anode portion and a cathode electrode disposed in the cathode portion.
Use: Flow battery, e.g., polyoxometalate flow battery.
Advantage: Maintains stability and enhance electrochemical reversibility since most aqueous flow batteries employ strongly acidic electrolytes.
Novelty: The flow battery (100) has an electrochemical cell (110) having an anode portion (160), a cathode portion (150) and a separator (140) disposed between the anode and cathode portions. The anode and cathode portions include the same polyoxometalate material comprising a mixed addenda anion having vanadium and tungsten. An anode electrode (130) is disposed in the anode portion. A cathode electrode (120) is disposed in the cathode portion.
