PC board mount corrosion sensitive sensor

DWPI Title: Apparatus used for detecting corrosion, consists of surface mount structure(s) containing capacitive element having property which is responsive to environmental condition, and dimensions suitable for mounting on printed circuit board
Abstract: The present invention relates to surface mount structures including a capacitive element or a resistive element, where the element has a property that is responsive to an environmental condition. In particular examples, the structure can be optionally coupled to a printed circuit board. Other apparatuses, surface mountable structures, and methods of use are described herein.
Use: Apparatus is used as corrosion monitor or sensor for detecting corrosion (claimed). Uses include but are not limited to building ventilation systems, wall board, first responder respirators, aviation, weapon system, water monitoring systems, space systems, automotive systems, architectural structures, and geothermal locations.
Advantage: The apparatus has improved performance characteristics, reliability and corrosion resistance, and is highly responsive to all environmental conditions such as atmospheric corrosion, oxidation, aqueous and nonaqueous corrosion, sulfide exposure, moisture condensation, ionic or organic contaminants, temperature, residual and thermal stress, and electrical bias. The apparatus is economical, energy-efficient and simple to operate.
Novelty: An apparatus consists of surface mount structure(s) containing a capacitive element having a property which is responsive to an environmental condition, and dimensions suitable for mounting on a printed circuit board.
