Abstract: A distributed wireless sensor network node is disclosed. The wireless sensor network node includes a plurality of sensor modules coupled to a system bus and configured to sense a parameter. The parameter may be an object, an event or any other parameter. The node collects data representative of the parameter. The node also includes a communication module coupled to the system bus and configured to allow the node to communicate with other nodes. The node also includes a processing module coupled to the system bus and adapted to receive the data from the sensor module and operable to analyze the data. The node also includes a power module connected to the system bus and operable to generate a regulated voltage.
Use: For modular sensor network node used for monitoring seismic activities, atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, indoor and outdoor agriculture, environmental variation on fine grained scale, vibration in factory, ships hull and heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) system in large office building.
Advantage: Allows easy upgradeability and eliminates the need for complete system redesign.
Novelty: The system resource senses a parameter to generate data representative of the parameter. The low performance processor receives the data from the system resource and determines whether further analysis of the data is necessary. The distributed controller allows a sensor module to communicate with other modules in the node and regulates the power consumption of the sensor module.
