Mobile lighting apparatus

DWPI Title: Mobile lighting apparatus for use in film and television industry, has multiple high efficiency LEDs that are coupled to distal end portion of light tower, and are coupled to fuel cell to receive electrical power
Abstract: A mobile lighting apparatus includes a portable frame such as a moveable trailer or skid having a light tower thereon. The light tower is moveable from a stowed position to a deployed position. A hydrogen-powered fuel cell is located on the portable frame to provide electrical power to an array of the energy efficient lights located on the light tower.
Use: Mobile lighting apparatus for use in film and television industry. Can also be used in providing illumination for road work, emergency roadway lighting application, aircraft and airport maintenance application, disaster recovery, indoor and outdoor application.
Advantage: Since high efficiency lights are used in the mobile lighting apparatus, lighting quality, control and durability of the mobile lighting apparatus can be improved. The mobile lighting apparatus is easily positioned to illuminate indoor or outdoor locations. The mobile lighting apparatus provides very quiet operation, combined with zero emissions, to allow power for the lights to be brought very close to the point-of-shoot location in film and television industry, so that the need for long power cable lines running from an offsite power generator to the lighting system can be reduced efficiently, and also noise and harmful emissions can be reduced efficiently.
Novelty: The apparatus has a hydrogen-powered fuel cell mounted on a portable frame (14), for generating electrical power for mobile lighting apparatus. A fuel storage tank is coupled to the fuel cell to provide fuel to fuel cell. A light tower (18) is provided with a proximal end portion pivotably coupled to the portable frame and a distal end portion. The light tower is movable between a stowed position and an upright, deployed position. Multiple high efficiency LEDs (40) are coupled to distal end portion of light tower, and are coupled to the fuel cell to receive electrical power.
