Heating and cooling devices, systems and related method

DWPI Title: Method for operating heat pump of e.g. cloth drier, in building, involves distributing compressed refrigerant into hot-side heat exchanger, where rotation of pump causes refrigerant to condense to liquid-phase in hot-side heat exchanger
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to devices, systems, and methods for cooling and/or heating a medium as well as cooling and/or heating an environment containing the medium. More specifically, at least one embodiment includes a heat pump that may heat and/or cool a medium and, in some instances, may transfer heat from one location to another location.
Use: Method for operating a heat pump of a heating and cooling device e.g. cloth drier and refrigeration appliances, in a building.
Advantage: The method enables increasing number of the blades in a hot-side and/or cold-side heat exchanger for facilitating heat transfer between medium and refrigerant so as to increase structural rigidity and thickness of the blades. The method enables separating the liquid-phase and gas-phase refrigerant to minimize or eliminate requirement of superheating of refrigerant vapor while channeling the gas-phase refrigerant to a compressor. The method enables retaining the liquid-phase refrigerant in the cold-side heat exchanger until evaporation to prevent liquid-phase refrigerant from entering the compressor.
Novelty: The method involves rotating a heat pump (100) about axis of rotation, where the heat pump comprises a hot-side heat exchanger (120) and a cold-side heat exchanger (130) and the hot-side heat exchanger and the cold-side heat exchanger are located concentrically about axis of rotation with the cold-side heat exchanger located on an outer side of the hot-side heat exchanger. Refrigerant is compressed by way of a compressor. The compressed refrigerant is distributed into the hot-side heat exchanger, where rotation of the heat pump causes the compressed refrigerant to condense to liquid-phase in the hot-side heat exchanger.
