Gas powered fluid gun with recoil mitigation

DWPI Title: Fluid gun system for propelling stream or slug of fluid at high velocity towards target, has device attached to rear end for changing pressure of fluid exiting end, where device comprises nozzle for flash vaporizing rearward-moving stream
Abstract: A gas powered fluid gun for propelling a stream or slug of a fluid at high velocity toward a target. Recoil mitigation is provided by a cavitating venturi that reduces or eliminates the associated recoil forces, with minimal or no backwash. By launching a quantity of water in the opposite direction, net momentum forces are reduced or eliminated.
Use: Fluid gun system for propelling a stream or slug of a fluid at a high velocity towards a target ranging from humans to vehicles in solid projectile system e.g. military small arms to disrupt improvised explosive devices (IEDs) or rioting individuals, breach doors or structures and arrest the movement of unauthorized vehicles. Uses include but are not limited to a car, a lorry, an aircraft and a trailer.
Advantage: The system utilizes energy stored in gas to be accumulated over a long period of time, thus requiring minimal peak power input to pressurize the gas. The system realizes high peak powers without requiring burden of large heavy pumps and power sources when the fluid is rapidly expelled from the device by the gas by controlling timing of when to close a fluid discharge valve. The system controls length of a fluid column (slug) in an accurate manner. The device redirects direction and momentum of the rearward-moving stream into other directions and other streams, thus minimizing or eliminating recoil forces imparted by forward-moving stream on the fluid tank and fluid supply line, and backwash from a rear of the gun barrel.
Novelty: The system has a fluid storage tank for containing pressurized fluid. A fluid supply line (22) supplies the pressurized fluid from the fluid storage tank to an opening (7) in a side of a gun barrel (8). A fluid ejection valve placed in the fluid supply line controls flow of the pressurized fluid from the fluid storage tank to the opening in the side of the gun barrel. A device (63) attached to an open rear end (13) changes pressure of fluid exiting the open rear end, where the device comprises a cavitating venturi nozzle (6) for flash vaporizing rearward- moving stream (3).
