Fluid delivery manifolds and microfluidic systems

DWPI Title: Cartridge for use with microfluidic chip in microfluidic system, has electrical interconnect board for defining through-hole including conductive sidewall in fluid communication with fluid reservoir, where sidewall applies voltage to fluid
Abstract: Embodiments of fluid distribution manifolds, cartridges, and microfluidic systems are described herein. Fluid distribution manifolds may include an insert member and a manifold base and may define a substantially closed channel within the manifold when the insert member is press-fit into the base. Cartridges described herein may allow for simultaneous electrical and fluidic interconnection with an electrical multiplex board and may be held in place using magnetic attraction.
Use: Cartridge for use with a microfluidic chip in a microfluidic system (claimed).
Advantage: The cartridge allows fluid distribution manifolds to reduce a number of fluid interconnects that is needed directly to the microfluidic chip from an external fluid source.
Novelty: The cartridge (905) has a manifold for partially defining a fluid reservoir arranged for fluid communication with a microfluidic chip. The fluid reservoir is formed with an inlet and an outlet. An electrical interconnect board defines a through-hole including a conductive sidewall in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir, where the conductive sidewall is arranged to apply voltage to fluid in the reservoir. A frame (817) is formed with a magnetized area. The frame partially supports the manifold.
