Customized electric power storage device for inclusion in a microgrid
DWPI Title: Method for outputting e.g. power storage capacity of e.g. battery, computing parameter of storage device based on received parameter of electric power source and variable load, so as to conform stability constraint for microgrid
Abstract: An electric power storage device included in a microgrid is described herein. The electric power storage device has at least one of a charge rate, a discharge rate, or a power retention capacity that has been customized for the microgrid. The at least one of the charge rate, the discharge rate, or the power retention capacity of the electric power storage device is computed based at least in part upon specified power source parameters in the microgrid and specified load parameters in the microgrid.
Use: Method for outputting parameter such as electric power storage capacity, charge and discharge rate of electrical storage device such as collection of batteries, capacitor bank and flywheel (all claimed) used in microgrid installed in home and building.
Advantage: The microgrid can effectively provide the suitable amount of power to the home and building. The parameters of the electric power storage device can ensure that the specified performance constraints are met and that the collective microgrid remains stable. The real-time predicative control in the microgrid can be greatly facilitated.
Novelty: The method involves receiving parameter for electric power source (206) of proposed microgrid and receiving parameter of variable load (208). A parameter for electric power storage device positioned in proposed microgrid is computed based on received parameter of electric power source and parameter of variable load, such that electric power storage device retains electric power generated by electric power source and discharges electric power requested by variable load and parameter for electric power storage device conforms to stability constraint for microgrid.
