Molecular detector for surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy
DWPI Title: Surface enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopic detector for detecting presence of protein for medical diagnosis, has resonators arranged in surface of support such that surface has impedance with respect to electromagnetic wave
Use: Surface enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopic detector for detecting a presence of a target molecule i.e. protein for medical diagnosis.
Advantage: The detector can be manufactured in a simple manner with a high level of reproducibility and at low cost, thus detecting small quantity of molecules potentially present in a sample to be tested in an efficient manner.
Novelty: The detector has an optical detection unit for detecting an alteration of a part of infrared radiation that comes from a surface (S) of a support (1), where alteration is produced by target molecules contained in sample located on or in the surface of the support. Resonators (10) are arranged in the surface of the support such that the surface of the support has an impedance with respect to an electromagnetic wave incident on the surface of the support and has resonance wavelength of the resonators, which is different from impedance of vacuum with difference between the impedance of the surface oand the impedance of the vacuum and minimum of spectral reflection coefficient of the surface as produced by the resonators at the resonance wavelength in the absence of target molecule is greater than 40%.
