Norbornylene-based polymer systems for dielectric applications

DWPI Title: Capacitor used in dielectric applications comprises electrode pair, where electric pair is separated by dielectric component, and where dielectric component comprises a polymer comprising norbornylene-containing polymer
Abstract: A capacitor having at least one electrode pair being separated by a dielectric component, with the dielectric component being made of a polymer such as a norbornylene-containing polymer with a dielectric constant greater than 3 and a dissipation factor less than 0.1 where the capacitor has an operating temperature greater than 100° C. and less than 170° C.
Use: As capacitor (claimed) used in dielectric applications.
Advantage: The capacitor have an operating temperature greater than 100° C and less than 170° C. The capacitors provides a polymeric material that exhibits both a high dielectric constant and low loss at high temperature making the materials ideal for use in next generation hybrid car capacitors where operating temperature are expected to reach a temperature of 170° C.
Novelty: A capacitor, comprises at least one electrode pair, where the electric pair is separated by a dielectric component, and where the dielectric component comprises a polymer comprising a norbornylene-containing polymer with a dielectric constant greater than 3 and a dissipation factor less than 0.1.
