Policy enabled information sharing system

DWPI Title: Method for dynamically sharing policy enabled information between e.g. entities, involves selecting data file as need-to-know information if metadata associated with data file identifies recipients of information
Abstract: A technique for dynamically sharing information includes executing a sharing policy indicating when to share a data object responsive to the occurrence of an event. The data object is created by formatting a data file to be shared with a receiving entity. The data object includes a file data portion and a sharing metadata portion. The data object is encrypted and then automatically transmitted to the receiving entity upon occurrence of the event. The sharing metadata portion includes metadata characterizing the data file and referenced in connection with the sharing policy to determine when to automatically transmit the data object to the receiving entity.
Use: Method for dynamically sharing policy enabled information between entities. Uses include but are not limited to a diverse set of individuals, agency, single organization e.g. federal entities of governmental structure and state entities of governmental structure and cooperating organizations e.g. corporations working on joint ventures, and government and private contractors.
Advantage: The method enables safely, securely and timely sharing the information in a seamless, low overhead and flexible manner.
Novelty: The method involves executing a sharing policy that indicates whether a data object (140) is shared in response to an occurrence of an event by monitoring the occurrence of the event from a set of different events. Recipients of need-to-know information are determined based on a type of the event. A data file is selected as the need-to-know information if metadata associated with the data file identifies one of the recipients of the information for sharing with a variety of different recipients based on occurring of one of the set of different events.
