System and method for the capture and storage of waste
DWPI Title: Modified metal-organic-framework material used for capturing and storing hazardous waste gases, comprises waste material adsorbed in metal-organic framework material having crystalline porous structure
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods that absorb waste into a metal-organic framework (MOF), and applying pressure to the MOF material's framework to crystallize or make amorphous the MOF material thereby changing the MOF's pore structure and sorption characteristics without collapsing the MOF framework.
Use: The modified metal-organic-framework material is useful for: capturing and storing hazardous waste gases; and controlled release of agrochemicals.
Advantage: The modified metal-organic-framework material: provides a waste form that has improved waste confinement; provides a waste form that physically entraps the gas or molecule with minimal processing comprising no heating, and non-specialized mechanical pressed amorphization; and has improved adsorption retention and reduced desorption kinetics.
Novelty: Modified metal-organic-framework material, comprises a waste material adsorbed in the metal-organic framework material having a crystalline porous structure, where the crystalline porous structure of the metal-organic framework material has been converted to an amorphous structure.
