Abstract: A method for preparing an electrochemical biosensor uses bias-assisted assembly of unreactive -onium molecules on an electrode array followed by post-assembly electro-addressable conversion of the unreactive group to a chemical or biological recognition group. Electro-addressable functionalization of electrode arrays enables the multi-target electrochemical sensing of biological and chemical analytes.
Use: Preparation of electrochemical biosensor used for multi-target electrochemical sensing of biological and chemical analytes.
Advantage: The method enables easy preparation of electrochemical biosensor with highly stable covalent bond, and having ability to selectively modify the conducting and semiconducting surfaces with the use of potential bias.
Novelty: Preparation of electrochemical biosensor involves grafting phenyl boronic acid diazonium salt having unreactive group to electrode(s) to form an assembly comprising phenyl molecule having unreactive group, and applying voltage (V2) to electrode(s) of conducting electrode(s) to convert unreactive group into reactive group containing chemical or biological recognition group having selectivity for target analyte. The diazonium salt is grafted by bias-assisted electrodeposition using bias voltage (V1).
