Current limiter circuit system
DWPI Title: Apparatus for limiting flow of currents in circuit, has detection circuit controlling switching circuit to limit amount of current that flows between first device and second device when monitored scaled current is greater than desired level
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a steady state sensing circuit, a switching circuit, and a detection circuit. The steady state sensing circuit is connected to a first, a second and a third node. The first node is connected to a first device, the second node is connected to a second device, and the steady state sensing circuit causes a scaled current to flow at the third node. The scaled current is proportional to a voltage difference between the first and second node. The switching circuit limits an amount of current that flows between the first and second device. The detection circuit is connected to the third node and the switching circuit. The detection circuit monitors the scaled current at the third node and controls the switching circuit to limit the amount of the current that flows between the first and second device when the scaled current is greater than a desired level.
Use: Apparatus for limiting flow of currents in circuit.
Advantage: The flow of current between two devices is managed efficiently by quickly limiting the fault current without overshoot but with less consumed power and with less needed space. The limitation of undesired current flow between devices is achieved due to the reduction in the amount of needed space. The discontinuities in the magnitude of current flow between power source and load is eliminated by the addition of inductor to current limiter circuit system.
Novelty: The apparatus has a steady state sensing circuit (114) causing a scaled current to flow at a third node (130). A switching circuit (116) limits an amount of current that flows between a first device (102) and second device (104). A detection circuit (118) is connected to the third node and switching circuit. The detection circuit monitors the scaled current at the third node and controls the switching circuit to limit the amount of the current that flows between the first device and second device when the monitored scaled current is greater than a desired level.
