Heating and cooling devices, systems and related method
DWPI Title: Heat pump for heating and/or cooling medium in environment, has cold-side heat exchanger which is connected to pressure-reduction device and configured to receive refrigerant from pressure-reduction device
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to devices, systems, and methods for cooling and/or heating a medium as well as cooling and/or heating an environment containing the medium. More specifically, at least one embodiment includes a heat pump that may heat and/or cool a medium and, in some instances, may transfer heat from one location to another location.
Use: Heat pump for heating and/or cooling medium in environment.
Advantage: The heat exchangers of the heat pumps separate the liquid-phase and gas-phase refrigerant, so as to minimize or eliminate the requirement of superheating of the refrigerant vapor while channeling the gas-phase refrigerant to the compressor. The number of the blades in the hot-side and/or cold-side heat exchanger are increased with increased structural rigidity, and reduced thickness.
Novelty: The pump (100) has a compressor (140) which configured to compress a refrigerant. A hot-side heat exchanger (120) is provided with hot-side blades (121) comprising hot-side blade channels (124), and is connected to compressor and configured to receive the refrigerant from the compressor. A pressure-reduction device is connected to hot-side heat exchanger and is configured to receive the refrigerant from hot-side heat exchanger. A cold-side heat exchanger (130) is provided with cold-side blades comprising cold-side blade channels, and is connected to pressure-reduction device and configured to receive the refrigerant from the pressure-reduction device. The cold-side heat exchanger is provided with first channel in fluid communication with pressure-reduction device and a second channel that is provided farther from a rotation axis of the cold-side heat exchanger. A subset of cold-side blades extends between first and second channels.
