Compounds that induce octane overboosting

DWPI Title: Fuel mixture for powering an internal combustion engine, comprises fuel and octane boosting additive, preferably myrcene, geraniol, 2,3-dimethyl-2-butene, alloocimene, limonene and dimethyl prenol, where additive contains alkenyl compound
Abstract: A fuel mixture includes a fuel and an octane overboosting additive. Methods of preparing and using such mixtures are disclosed. In particular, the mixture includes an additive that provides octane boosting that produces peak octane at or before a 40% blend and produces at least a 1 octane boost at 10% volume of additive to fuel mixture.
Use: Fuel mixture for powering an internal combustion engine.
Advantage: The fuel mixture is cost-effective, has high purity of greater than 98%, and includes an additive that provides desired octane boosting, thus provides combustion engines with enhanced engine performance, fuel stability, and octane content, and improved operation in high compression environments.
Novelty: Fuel mixture comprises a fuel, and ≥ 5 vol.% an octane boosting additive selected from myrcene, geraniol, 2,3-dimethyl-2-butene, alloocimene, limonene and/or dimethyl prenol, where the octane boosting additive contains 5-24C alkenyl compound containing internal carbon-carbon double bonds, and multiple carbon atoms with covalent bonds only to other carbon atoms.
