Enrichment of amino acids from biomass residuum

DWPI Title: Composition used for making biofuels, fermented broth derived from fermented biomass, where broth comprises valine, glutamic acid, proline, alanine, aspartic acid, tyrosine, and histidine, where fermented biomass comprises distillers' grain fermented with first genetically engineered organism
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of providing a biomass residuum and compositions thereof. In particular examples, the biomass residuum includes one or more high value amino acids, even after removal of mixed alcohol components. In particular, the methods include implementing pre-treatment conditions and employing fermentation conditions including modified organisms.
Use: Composition used for making biofuels.
Advantage: The composition facilitate such isolation in an effective and/or efficient manner, degrade lower value amino acids within a biomass into alcohol, leaving residual higher value amino acids (such as valine, glutamic acid, or proline), and such higher value amino acids can be present within the fermentation broth, which is obtained by fermenting the biomass.
Novelty: Composition comprises fermented broth derived from a fermented biomass, where broth comprises 10-25 wt.% valine, 10-20 wt.% glutamic acid, 5-15 wt.% proline, 5-15 wt.% alanine, 5-15 wt.% aspartic acid, 3-10 wt.% tyrosine, 3-10 wt.% glycine, and 3-10 wt.% histidine, or salt. The fermented biomass comprises distillers' grain fermented with a first genetically engineered organism and a second genetically engineered organism. The first genetically engineered organism degrades one or more carbohydrates in the distillers' grain and second genetically engineered organism degrades one or more amino acids, proteins, or peptides in the distillers' grain.
