High-temperature brushless DC motor controller
DWPI Title: Motor controller for use in tool used in downhole field for deployment in high temperature environments, has half-bridge circuit that is provided with high-side switching element and low-side switching element
Abstract: A motor control system for deployment in high temperature environments includes a controller; a first half-bridge circuit that includes a first high-side switching element and a first low-side switching element; a second half-bridge circuit that includes a second high-side switching element and a second low-side switching element; and a third half-bridge circuit that includes a third high-side switching element and a third; low-side switching element. The motor controller is arranged to apply a pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme to switch the first half-bridge circuit, second half-bridge circuit, and third half-bridge circuit to power a motor.
Use: Motor controller for use in tool, such as seismic tool (Claimed) used in a downhole field for deployment in high temperature environments.
Advantage: The motor controller comprises a half-bridge circuit that is provided with a high-side switching element and a low-side switching element, and thus enables reducing the size of controller for improving the capability for high temperature drilling and monitoring.
Novelty: The motor controller (50) comprises a half-bridge circuit (12,14,16) that is provided with a high-side switching element (20,22) and a low-side switching element. Another half-bridge circuit is provided with another high-side switching element and another low-side switching element. Third half-bridge circuit is provided with third high-side switching element and third low-side switching element. A controller is arranged to apply a pulse width modulation scheme to switch the former half-bridge circuit, latter half-bridge circuit and third half-bridge circuit to power a motor (18).
