Automatic computation of transfer functions
DWPI Title: Method for facilitating automatic derivation of e.g. input-to-output transfer function for electrical system using computing device, involves analyzing operational characteristic of physical system based upon transfer function
Abstract: Technologies pertaining to the automatic computation of transfer functions for a physical system are described herein. The physical system is one of an electrical system, a mechanical system, an electromechanical system, an electrochemical system, or an electromagnetic system. A netlist in the form of a matrix comprises data that is indicative of elements in the physical system, values for the elements in the physical system, and structure of the physical system. Transfer functions for the physical system are computed based upon the netlist.
Use: Method for facilitating automatic derivation of transfer functions e.g. input-to-output transfer function, control-to-output transfer function, input impedance transfer function and output impedance transfer function, for a physical system e.g. electrical system, electromechanical system, electrochemical system, mechanical system and electromagnetic system using a computing device (all claimed).
Advantage: The method enables facilitating automatic derivation of the transfer functions of the physical system in an accurate and cost effective manner without requiring simulation of input and output of the physical system. The method enables deriving the transfer functions at a circuit level by using multiple reference frame theory, thus allowing for a linear periodically time varying system to be accurately analyzed as a linear time invariant system.
Novelty: The method involves receiving a netlist that is representative of a physical system. A transfer function is computed for the physical system based upon data that is indicative of types of elements and respective values for the elements in response to receiving the netlist. An operational characteristic of the physical system is analyzed based upon the transfer function and a direct-quadrature transfer function generator component by outputting graphical data that is indicative of the operational characteristic to a display screen.
