Abstract: A porphyrin coordination polymer nanostructure comprising a network of
pyridyl porphyrin molecules and coordinating metal ions coordinatively
bound through the pyridyl groups. In some embodiments, the porphyrins are
metalloporphyrins. A variety of nanostructures are formed by the network
polymer, including nanospheres, polygonal nanostructures, nanorods, and
nanofibers, depending on a variety of factors including coordination
metal ion, porphyrin type, metal of the metalloporphyrin, and degree of
agitation during nanostructure formation. Reduction of coordinating metal
ions may be used to form metal nanoparticles on the coordination polymer
nanostructure. |
